onestica is an exploration into the rich and exciting world of Nonestic Mythology and Baumian Lore. First created by L. Frank Baum in 1900, The Wonderful Wizard of Oz and subsequent sequels set the the tone for fantasy and science fiction during the 20th century. Jericho Matt Bloom aims to bring the universally compelling qualities of Baum’s world to life with an epic tale set faithfully within this dark and fantastic universe.
Weather you enjoyed the original series, or if you’re simply interested in a great adventure; there’s something in the light hearted, but often terrifying tapestry of Nonestica for everyone. Either way, you’ll never think of Oz quite the same way again.
Synopsis
Some time ago, in a place that is not as far away as you have been lead to believe, there was a sense of change that could be felt in the air. An old monarchy was overtaken and disbanded. Two witches gradually enslaved the population. Old legends and prophecies predicted that a great and terrible Wizard that would come from the clouds to save them all during a time they called the Eighth Awakening.
Oscar Diggs was a circus magician from Nebraska. Through a series of freak occurrences, he found himself declared king in a strange country that defied imagination. Jenn Tinker was an eccentric inventor who would rather be on the moon, or doing anything other than fighting someone else’s revolution. Lacking any actual magical powers of their own, they would build an army, and convince a country to save itself.
This is the strange and unusual story of these strange people, and the magic of the times. It is also the story of the man you might know as the Wonderful Wizard of Oz.
About the Author
Jericho Matt Bloom has traveled the world collecting stories and philosophies from different cultures. A computer programmer, and technical writer by trade, Jericho has a background in the sciences and literature.
He currently holds several advanced degrees from a number of institutions. As a child, he became enamored with mythology, and mankind’s universal need to tell big stories. It is his belief that that story telling is what we do as people. Perhaps it is that, above all else that makes us human. This journey for knowledge and understanding has taken him to Africa, Asia, Europe, and elsewhere; but he’s always found his favorite stories closer to home.
About The Illustrator
Alan Cook is Scottish. In addition to being a fine artist and illustrator, he is also a photographer, writer, & musician. A life long lover and follower of L. Frank Baum, John R. Neill and the OZ Series, he lives near Glasgow, Scotland.
